Cranking up the Defense

Unlike most training sessions, it was quite far into the afternoon when the jounin Shigairu set foot on the training field. Whilist several other training shinobi were already moving tired and sweating bodies homwards, Shigiaru appeared fresh and energetic and was just about to start training. Exeptional, yet logic, as Shigairu hated getting up early after all. He had eaten earlier this day and had gotten enough sleep to keep himself running for quite some hours now. He would not at all be surpised if this training session would end up to be a nightly one, nor would he mind it. He loved having the training field for himself alone. Though this was not yet the case, it was bound to happen as hours passed by.

Shigairus prediction came true, and when the sun moved its final, tiny stripe of orange light underneath the horizon, the last of the other training shinobi left the grassy training field to go home. For Shigairu, who had only just entered the training field and was only getting warmed up, the training session was only just beginning. It was getting dark, and it was getting cold. He was alone on the field now and the weather conditions appeared to become less and less pleasant with the minute. Not to be concerned by some wind, rain, and cold however, Shigairu, determined to train his new technique tonight, stepped forward and took the middle of the field as his own. He had only been warming up untill now. Preforming some fuuton to get the hang of it. Now his his 2 feet stood firmly on the soggy grass of an empty training field however, the time to get this thing going had commenced.

"Ox, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Bird, Rat, Bird", Shigairu muttered to himself as his hands swiftly took on the shape of the 12 known handseals. He had practiced this part of his new technique several times, thus the difficulty of learned it did certainly not lie within preforming the handseals. He was a ninjutsu user after all. The 12 seals of the hand had no secrets for him. "Tori", he muttered again as he formed the last handseal, a bird one, and moved his head slightly backwards to gather the required chakra in his mouth. The difficult part, he had not yet passed it. In fact, it was about to commence. Chakra flowed into his mouth. Its nature, its feeling, it was slowly shaped and formed into the distingtive feeling of wind chakra. Raw, untamed, yet contained a powerful force. Force not only for destruction, but also exeptionally suitable for defence. Or so he would figure out now. "Fuuton: Rasen Kakuheki!". Defensive wind technique. He'd see what that would turn out to look like.

A mighty gust of wind escaped his mouth as he opened it and pushed his head forward to compensate the backwards pressure unleashing the wind generated. In a fraction of a second, the gust was pushing the grass and soil in front of him left and right as it swirled around an invisible center, creating a tornado-like situation. Eager to make the thing work, Shigairu tightly held onto his final handseal and made encouraging sounds at the swirling wind. He did it right this time, he was positive of that. If the wind would just coorporate, he would get it right. And fortunately, the wind did coorporate. In a tornade-like fashion, the gust rotated and generated an invisible yet effective barrier that, though it wasent actually blocking anything, created quite an impressive scene as it swept the grass left and right. And when Shigairu released the handseal, and the gust laid down again, a satisfied expression appeared on his face. He had succeeded at his very first try today, which was a good thing. It ment he was in shape as a ninjutsu user and walking the right path as a shinobi. Much time to enjoy this personal victory however, he had not. Cloud closed in through the dark sky and the already nasty weather conditions started getting worse with the second. He had to hurry now if he wanted to get home before rainfall commenced. But even if he failed at this, he would not mind. At least he did not fail at one thing this evening, and got himself a very new technique for in his wide arsenal of ninjutsu.
