In addition to his normal outfit, Katashi Hyūga carries a set of summoning scrolls vertically across his belt, near the small of his back, which he uses to store the weaponry he carries and uses. A fourth summoning scroll holds his survival gear, as well as other miscellaneous items he finds either sentimental or useful on his missions. He also carries a number of bandage rolls and burn ointments, as his techniques can cause himself great physical pain and severe burns if he is not careful. He carries the bandages and ointment separately from his summoning scrolls, due to their necessity. He wears two hitai-ite, one on each of his arms. On the right, he has the hitai-ite of the Leaf Village, while on the left it is the hitai-ite of the Sand Village. He uses this to show his dual loyalty, and status as an exchange genin. Those that inherit the blood of this clan have almost featureless white eyes. The Byakugan is the primary focus of the Hyuga's special arts. When the Byakugan is activated, their pupils become more distinct, and the veins near their temples bulge. The first ability of the Byakugan gives the user a near 360º field of vision, except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the third thoracic vertebra. The second ability is having the ability to see through solid objects, and can use a degree of telescopic sight. The distance and the degree of telescopic sight varies from person to person. In Part I, Neji Hyuga was able to see an area of 50 meters, but later he increases his visual range to at least 800 meters, while Hinata Hyuga's range in Part II stretches at least as far as 10 km. During the hunt for either of the Uchiha brothers, Hinata was shown to be able to view Amaterasu's flames, and the chakra in the area, from ten kilometers away. However, the Byakugan cannot see through certain barriers, such as the Four Black Fog Battle Formation used by the Sound Four. However, the third and one of the greatest uses of the Byakugan is the ability to see chakra, as well as the chakra circulation system inside another's body. It is from this particular ability that they are able to employ their ultimate attack style: Gentle Fist. Unlike the Strong Fist, which is focused on external injuries, the Gentle Fist style focuses on internal injuries. Each strike, when placed correctly, strikes along the Chakra Pathway System, which is the network of vessels that carry chakra. This network is closely intertwined with the functioning of the body's organs, and so, when the keirakukei take damage, the organs suffer as well. There is no defense against the Gentle Fist, since one cannot train one's internal organs to become stronger. The only possible defense is to stop the Gentle Fist's hits from connecting. Particularly skilled users of the Byakugan, which appear only rarely, can take the Gentle Fist style one step further. Along the keirakurei are 361 pinprick-sized nodes called Tenketsu, or chakra points. When struck, the Byakugan user can choose to either seal, or forcibly open these Tenketsu, thus giving the user complete control over their opponent's chakra system. So, with precision, all those points along the victim's body can be sealed, stopping the chakra flow to those areas. Clan Symbol: None Clan History: The Hyūga clan were one of the founding noble families of Leaf village. The clan itself is said to be the ancestors of the Uchiha clan who possess the bloodline of the Sharingan eye. Each clan member possess the "Byakugan" or "White Eye." When the "Byakugan" is activated, the clan member gains an extra-sensory perception, which gives them penetrating sight and telescopic vision. This allows them to see the internal chakra circulation system in other beings. This vision also grants the member a near 360° view of their surroundings. The higher the skill of the clan member, the further the distance from which they can sense incoming attacks. Unfortunately the vision does have a weakness, a small blindspot that extends outwards from their upper back. The clan uses this ability in conjunction with their own chakra creating the Jūken (gentle fist) fighting style. By focusing the chakra to their finger tips, they can press the tenketsu or chakra pressure points of their opponents body. When the finger nears the tenketsu the chakra is forced out, collapsing the targeted tenketsu for a period of time. The tenketsu serve as the connectors and exit points for the chakra pathways. So when they are stopped by the Hyūga clan member, the ninja greatly loses his or her ability to utilize their chakra for jutsu. These great powers lead to internal strife within the family. Because the eye grants such a unique and powerful ability, the clan became possessive and over-protective of it. Seeing only the main family as worthy users and inheritors of the eye, the heads of the clan began to place restrictions on those branch family members not in power. What resulted were two Hyūga lines, the powerful main family who would represent the line, and the branch family who were directed to protect the main family and bear the cursed seal. The cursed seal is placed on the foreheads of branch family members. It serves as a means to protect the secrets of the Hyūga Byakugan eye. If the branch family member was to ever betray the main family or be killed in battle, the seal would be activated to destroy the body's secrets. Thus forcing the branch family to further bow to the will of the main family. To do this, the user will forcefully insert a small amount of their own chakra into an opponent's chakra pathway system. The chakra can the be used to rupture or divert chakra flow, preventing them from using jutsu. It can also be used to attack the opponent's internal organs, to which the chakra pathway system is closely tied. Even the slightest tap from this style can cause major damage, hence the name "gentle fist." Because the chakra pathway system is invisible, the Byakugan is required for this style to be used effectively. Description: Kinobori no Waza, the art of tree climbing serves a dual purpose. Taking part in Kinobori Shugyou (Tree Climbing Training) helps a ninja learn how to focus their chakra. It also teaches the ninja how to run up trees and walk on vertical walls. The training helps the ninja learn how to focus just the right amount of chakra to a particular part of their body. The amount needed to climb is small but it must be precise. The feet are regarded as the hardest location to master chakra focusing. So by gaining the art of this skill, the ninja will have any jutsu available because they will be able to focus their chakra as needed.

Description: This jutsu utilizes the chakra control gained through Gentle Fist training to release a huge amount of chakra from all of the user's chakra points. The released chakra blocks any possible attack on the user. The user then spins rapidly to parry the attack, both creating a rotating shield of chakra around themselves and tossing away any nearby attackers. The user can also actively control the size and power of the sphere to suit the situation. This jutsu is only effective when rotating, since the chakra itself is not enough to stop a physical attack. If they cannot rotate, the user becomes vulnerable.

Description: Tthis jutsu allows the user to emit a constant stream of chakra from their palms, creating extremely sharp chakra blades. Using natural flexibility, they can reach any point around themselves, allowing them to hit any target within their field of vision. While using this jutsu, the user moves extremely fast (their movements become a blur), allowing them to hit hundreds of targets with extreme precision, much like the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. Additionally, they can control the size of the chakra beams in their palms, allowing them to create larger, arc-shaped chakra beams that spread out across teir entire attack range.
With the addition of a ninja's flexibility, the technique creates an "absolute defense" effect similar to that of the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin, though the cutting nature of the chakra prevents any outside force from restricting it. In this way, the technique can be used as both an offensive and defensive maneuver. However, it is also possible for a fast opponent to get inside the defense, or time their attack to avoid it, whereas the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin provides constant 360 degree protection.

Description: Developed by Katashi's mother, the Needle Storm Technique is similar, in some ways, to the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin. However, instead of discharging chakra to form a shield, the user instead spins and creates a storm of chakra needles, launching out in one or all directions. Although less precise in it's targetting then the basic chakra needle technique, the Needle Storm can be used to attack in many directions at once, and saturate an area with attacks. However, because it does not defend like the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin, it also does not defend, making it a pure offensive tool, and leaving the user open for attacks.

Description: Using the principles of the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin, in which the user expels chakra from the various chakra points on their body, and combining it with elemental chakra, the Kaodori Jutsu allows it's user greater mobility on the battlefield. By expelling blasts of fire-infused chakra from various points on his body, a ninja can give himself a sort of 'push' or 'boost' during battle, allowing them to perform amazing acrobatics and feats of evasion. When used during leaps it can give a slight boost to speed and range, though this is relatively minor. It has no offensive use, however, as the chakra bursts are not strong enough to cause actual physical harm.
It is simple enough to use without hand seals. However, it is also draining and cannot be used excessively. Even more dangerous, it can cause severe burns when overused, and cause even greater downtime for the ninja as a result.

Description: Much like the Heat Dancing Technique, the Mirage Hallucination Technique uses the principles of the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin to exert charka from the various points on the body at once. By letting out a small 'aura' of chakra infused with fire elemental power, he can cause a sort of 'heat mirage' effect around him, causing his opponents to see him in an almost shimmering way, making him harder to target and track during a fight, as well as making it harder to dodge and react to his own strikes. At first glance many assume it to be a genjutsu. However, because it does not effect the enemy, it is actually a form of body-enhancing taijutsu.
Much like the Heat Dancing Technique, the Mirage Hallucination Technique can cause damage to the body if overused. For this reason, Katashi uses it only sparingly.

Description: Fire Phoenix Technique a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Fire Element. The ninja does the necessary hand seals and then emits a series of small fire balls. The ninja can also hurl a projectile which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. Meaning that even if the flames are put out, the projectiles still converge on the target. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai.

Description: Dynamic Entry is a taijutsu technique. A ninja will often throw a kunai to distract his targets attention (though not necessary), he will then use his/her speed and agility to quickly approach and attack his/her opponent from their blind side.
Background Information Katashi Hyūga was born, as most of the Hyūga were, in the Konohagakure, the Village Hidden in the Leaves. He was born into the main branch of the clan, to parents who had both been distinguished members of the shinobi corp during their earlier years, and whom had no illusions about which path their son would be taking. Both had spent years as Leaf-Nin, and both had developed a number of techniques they hoped to pass onto their son to make him an even greater shinobi then they had been. In a way, that was their reason for conceiving him: they wanted a heir to their abilities, and to their legacy. It was as good a reason as any, they supposed. His mother was known for her precision, having developed a number of applications for the chakra needle technique and tracking with her byakugan. She could discharge needles from any point in her body, hurling a veritable storm of needles at a foe at a moments notice. She also utilized metal senbon needles alongside their chakra counterparts, using them alongside her Gentle Fist taijutsu to strike at an opponents most vulnerable points. But, outside of her skills as a shinobi, she was also know for a great anomaly amongst the Hyūga: she had white hair, opposed to the nearly universal blue-black of other Hyūga, including her husband. Her husband, on the other hand, was known for his agility. The Gentle Fist was always a flowing and agile art, but he brought out the true art in it. He seemed almost more like a dancer then a fighter, at times, striking with style and speed. He developed uses of releasing chakra from various points in the body for uses other then defense, such as to enhance his agility and acrobatics. He actually was a dancer, often disguising himself as one to infiltrate enemy palaces on missions and get close to his targets. So fond was he that he would invite his opponents to 'dance the dance of death' with him, before each battle. Not suprisingly, he was rather big on theatrics, as well. He also had mastered the ability to create shadow clones, though he was rarely able to create more then two. However, even with this small number he developed a number of techniques that utilized their combined skill at Gentle Fist to unique ends. As it is said, "a child that does not resemble its parents is the child of an oni." It was obvious from very early on that Katashi was no oni babe. He was born with a head of the same white hair as his mother, and the light lavender hint to his Byakugan eyes, much like his father. He was a quiet child, a fact his parents find ironic given the moment he learned to speak they could not get him to stop. Friendly, happy, and strangely content for a child. He did not whine for things, nor did he complain. It was a peculiar thing, too, as he was so full of energy. But he could amuse himself with anything. And, in a way, it made him perfect for training. He could find joy in almost anything, and something that made hims stronger only moreso. He took to training like a duck to water, and particularly to the flowing style of the Gentle Fist. He took his parent's personal instruction to heart, and showed great promise in the Hyūga's signature style. When he entered the academy this promise continued, and while he was not the top of his class he was near it. Indeed, it was the fact that he was so skilled and yet not at the very top that made him a perfect candidate for an experimental program of the Konoha Ninja Academy; he was chosen to be the first of this program, a 'foreign exchange student' to the allied village of Sunagakure for their genin program. His parents actually approved of the choice, feeling it was a way for him to expand his knowledge and show the Hyūga skill to the world. How better to spread the legacy, after all? However, they accelerated his training, showing him a number of the moves they had intended for after his graduation, even if he was unable to fully master them at the moment. He did, however, learn the seeds of later techniques, and he would continue his training on his own.
