The Uchiha turned out to be all he could have expected, highly capable and skilled yet hampered by an ego the size of the Hokage Mountain. It turned out that all those weeks spent training with Yusei were paying dividends. It hadn’t taken long to realise that the Sharingan’s ability to predict ones opponent was linked to muscle reflex and charka flow if he kept both to a minimum it was often enough to get through those legendary reactions of theirs. So when Gale came for him all he did was nothing, simply waited forcibly keeping down his chakra and not twitching a muscle. The first few times it didn’t work and he got a few kicks and punches for his effort. However overconfidence soon swept up his opponent and an opportunity presented it self. Just as he came a third time he brought his right leg down hard on the Uchiha’s left knee. His expression of alarm told him the Uchiha had seen it coming but his shock told him he was left with no time to react. Moments later the Uchiha had a noticeable limp. Knowing his opponent would try to move to long range he had pressed his attack not letting up for a moment. Ironically fate snatch all hope of victory from the Uchiha moments later as his stiff leg caught on some debris of a previous match and he fell off balance. Before he could raise his guard Jiro close the distance and struck his left temple sending the young teen into the realms of unconsciousness.

He didn’t expect this match to go so smoothly, while Uchiha’s were dangerous he was also familiar with their a fact he could fighting style something he could exploit to his advantage. Unfortunately his next opponent was somewhat of a mystery. He wondered if he should prepare for the worse and deactivate the weight seals and draw his blade but decided not to. Neither was more then a moment work and a truly skilled Nin knew half the battle was in hiding ones true objective from ones enemy. Better used when least suspected, after all it was one thing to fight a fast opponent, quite another to deal with a sudden change in speed. Walking to the position motioned to by the proctor he readied himself for the conflict to come. He imagined he would be in for a surprise, a good thing for him he was not without his own. Even as he took his unsual stance he felt his blood rush at the thought of the battle to come.

Maevis walked into the middle of the arena and set his feet apart. His previous fight had left him amazed at how far he had come in the past few months. Before he couldn't hold his own in fights like this, but now that he had trained himself, he was able to fight with the best of them. The previous fight had him trying out his Ketatamashiiken Ryuu style of combat for the first time in an actual combat situation.

This battle would probably be harder than Maevis’ last one. Jiro had done short work of the Uchiha that he had fought in the match before. Jiro was something of an enigma to Maevis. Not many people knew what he was about, but then again, the same could be said about Maevis. Walking slowly, Maevis stopped himself in the center of the ring so he was about ten feet away from his new opponent. His bandaged arms came up into his own unorthodox fighting style that matched the praying mantis style of combat his mother had taught him.

PostSubject: Re: 2nd Round: Match Two: Maevis Pas vs Jiro   2nd Round: Match Two: Maevis Pas vs Jiro EmptyThu Mar 26, 2009 4:20 am

Jiro was unsure how to approach the upcoming conflict. He was as patient and tactical as any Shinobi but he also liked to dictate the speed and tempo of his battles. It would perhaps surprise people how seriously Jiro took being a Ninja but to Jiro there was no greater vocation. Rule 4 of The True Ninjas Way made clear that a true Shinobi always picked their fights from their nature of the engagement to the lay of the land and like so many rules and codes Jiro didn’t simply learn it, he lived by it. The fight and choice of terrain was not his choosing but he planned to dictate the course of battle. To do so he would need to no more about his opponent to establish what approach might be best fortunately his opponents stance gave him his first insight.

The style was not one he recognised and Jiro had a good working knowledge of Konoha’s primary forms and stances. He was perhaps the most adept Taijutsu/Kenjutsu user in his year and devoted years of merciless training into perfecting his own forms. While he was ignorant of the stance and curious about its effectiveness his ignorance told more then knowledge often did. The very fact the Nin was adopting a unique stance he was unaware of told him his opponent was someone with Taijutsu proficiency either as main or secondary speciality. Most Genin knew little more then the academy form or one of the more advanced ones, unique ones such as his foe sported were the province of Taijutsu specialists and clans that utilise Taijutsu. In this moment of clarity he knew how best to approach his foe. Simple really, his foe would be relying on his hand to hand abilities to block and strike all he needed to was keep out of range and use attacks that would make blocking him in the usual manner dangerous indeed and he had just the tool for the job housed in its black scabbard hanging from his waist.

Kenjutsu was not always the best way forward, his style after all was very aggressive and not exactly subtle, but in close quarters small things like extra reach and a sharp blade can mean all the difference in the world. His opponents kunai would proffer little resistance to the hell forged weapon forcing the Nin to rely on skillful dodges and faints that would make getting within range all the harder and if of course he continued to be problem there was always the 30ft chain which was carefully hidden within the folds of his Kimono. The Black Stance Jashin used chains and ropes to enable a user to fight at up to 30ft from his target. If he proved problematic all he would need to do was let some out and continue the battle well beyond the Nin’s own reach.

This in mind Jiro leapt into action. Running directly at the other Nin he threw there Kunai towards his opponent each with an inactive explosive tag at the ends. While partly to hinder his foe the Kunai’s were mainly there to limit Maevis movements, their true targets being directly behind and to the side of his opponent with the idea that should he decide to back peddle of escape he could activate them. They ensuing blasts were unlikely to kill but an exploitable injury may ensue that the other Nin could ill afford. Drawing a fourth and final kunai without a tag he simultaneously reached for the cruel scimitar at his waist unsheathing it with practised ease. The blade called to him, wanting to bite deeply into his foe and bathe in his blood. Jiro repressed the urge knowing that should he give into his bloodthirsty nature here his own position among leaf might become untenable. Even so he smirked wicked with the thought of upcoming battle. His loping run seem almost dance link with his sword held out behind him in a manner more fitting in a dance hall then in a combat arena. As he closed the distance he weaved to the right an initiated dynamic entry by throwing the kunai from one side before dashing with incredible speed and leaping fast from the other careful to keep out of what he predicted was the Nin’s arm reach. His long wide serrated blade whipped through the air with a rush of wind, the strength and speed of the attack amplified by the Charka pumping through Jiro’s system, intent on cleaving his foe from his shoulder to his waist. If the attack successful then the Nin’s resulting death would be richly deserved but he doubted it would be so easy.

PostSubject: Re: 2nd Round: Match Two: Maevis Pas vs Jiro   2nd Round: Match Two: Maevis Pas vs Jiro EmptyThu Mar 26, 2009 7:16 am

Maevis always considered that Jiro would make the first move against him. He always waited for his opponents to make the first move because it was always possible to make the worst mistake of a fight in the first moments of the combat. So, Maevis waited as his mind returned to basic calming techniques that his own mother taught him. These techniques helped calm his emotions to the point of being calm once more.

As soon as he saw movement, his plan coming into the fight went out the window. He was not expecting explosive tagged kunai to be flying towards him at the very start of the match. To counter this, Maevis did something he hoped would catch his opponent unaware. He rolled forwards towards Jiro instead of away. As he came up, his hands went into motion forming the signs of the tiger, horse, ram, dog and dragon rapidly and then held out his hand. What formed inside was a small ball of fire that Maevis threw with all his might towards Jiro as he started to run around him. Maevis aimed in an area he expected for Jiro to run into. The ball of fire turned into a lance and Maevis expected it to miss. As Jiro tossed the last of the kunai towards him, Maevis returned the sentiment.

Maevis threw out his bandaged arms and let loose the hidden senbon inside of the bandages. These senbon flew around Jiro’s form, missing on purpose. As Jiro’s blade came towards him, Maevis gave a slight smirk as he did a quick roll forwards and then a quick back flip into the air. He landed several feet away as he fell back to the ground. His senbon were spread all about the battle field as he pulled his arms towards his chest. This motion pulled the wire attached to his senbon and wrapped in coils around his arms under the bandages. With this, it pulled loose the senbon towards the location that they originated from before flying back towards Maevis and embedding into the ground at his feet. Maevis let his body fall back into his personal fighting style.

Jiro had never been entirely sure what to expect but the odd wire trick was not among them. It had taken minimal effort to avoid it, just a simple skip to clear the wire. Seeing the smirk he replied with genuine mock interest:

“I didn’t realise we were playing games. Well know we are done with the skip rope shall we move on to dancing. I have this sudden urge to tap soul out”

And to the surprise of all the onlookers, Jiro the quiet disciple of Jashin started to do an Irish jig, tap dancing away as though they were in a dance off. To make matters worse he had one arm on his hip and the other waving his sword about like a festive baton. One step here another there, left foot here right foot behind and so it continued. Behind his benign grin Jiro couldn’t help but smirk at what he planned next. If the dance was confusing they hadn’t seen anything yet. 10 seconds in he let go of the smoke bomb he had been palming all this time and quickly formed the activation seal necessary to activate the live tags. It was fortunate indeed his opponent had taken those few extra steps back. Not enough to be harms way but between the smoke bomb, and the tags the area around him was full of stinking smoke, flying debris and a cacophony of noise. The perfect distraction for what he intended. Without hesitating a moment he moved on to stage two of the attack, to properly utilise the confusion he had sewed. Whipping his blade (Blade Whip) around he threw it with practised easy as hard as he could towards the centre of his opponents chest intent on skewering him like a pig. He felt the blade leave clean and true the chain whipping out behind it, its rattle fortuitously unnoticeable in the din. While dangerous as it was Jiro was not simply happy with dangerous, deadly was what was needed and he was already flipping through the few seals needed for one of his favourite moves. Finally he flattened his right palm and pushed hard in the direction of the blades flight. Suddenly the smoke billowed as wind roared and the blade caught up increased to speeds that made its earlier passage seem sluggish as it raced to impale Maevis. Happy with it, Jiro decided to redeploy a few meters to the left and see what damage his blade had caused.

The blade with have lodged itself behind the intended victim and it is simple enough to use a chakra enhanced pull to sent it hurtling back at great speed. Maevis had been caught off guard by the dance and the smoke bomb, but after that, it had been expected that the explosive tags explode at some point in time. What he didn't expect after that was the rushing sword out of the smoke towards his chest. He wouldn't have time to duck, roll, jump or do anything worth while.

Suddenly, an idea came into his head as the sword picked up in speed towards him. He dodged the sword and reached up and grasped the chain. Catching the chain had his entire right arm ringing in pain. Wrapping it around his fist, he pulled hard on it taking out all the slack from the chain. "How about a new game, tug of war."

PostSubject: Re: 2nd Round: Match Two: Maevis Pas vs Jiro   2nd Round: Match Two: Maevis Pas vs Jiro EmptySat Mar 28, 2009 5:57 am

Jiro was momentarily caught off guard. Only momentarily, if his opponent thought he knew how to use chains then Jiro was by practically a genius and managed to dig his heels in after a foot and shift arms in a manner the locked the chains momentum abruptly. Still very impressive and he found himself nodding in respect to his opponent. The boy with the blue locks was not without skill and he masked his pain well. Jiro had been training with chains most of his life and he knew exactly how much stopping it mid flight like that would hurt, to that then wrap it around ones fist and pull was a noteworthy achievement in itself. He considered momentarily doing just the same only with greater force imbued with chakra and see if he couldn’t bring him closer but it struck him that this might be just what he wanted. Then he spied a more attractive proposition altogether. Not all that easy to pull off but it had a number of things going for it not least surprise and the fact it could quite easily by a game breaker. Continuing his earlier side stepping he proceed to pace about the Genin giving the show of sizing him up and occasionally tightening the chain to signify he was about to pull it. All the time his free hand was surreptitiously releasing his weight seals. To do what he intends he would need to be fast, very fast. Though it irked him to pull this one out so early in he would need it exploit the opportunity presented. To further mislead him he commented while he moved:

“I am impressed. You handle pain better then most. So you want to play Tug of War? Are you sure you up to it? It's quite a step forward from skipping after all”

Taking the final shuffle into position, far from pulling on the chain he suddenly ran towards the other Nin with the speed no Genin should have. Rather then learn many Jutsu he had decided along ago to focus on doing a few well and concentrate on building his speed, strength and practising the blade. Now it was time to show what he was made of. Jiro letting chain trial behind him grabbed for a kunai with his left hand from the recesses of his kimono looking as though he intended to blind side his foe and take him with a quick unexpected rush. Only at the last minute rather then plunging on into combat he threw the kunai before passing by completely avoiding contact. Only then did it dawn on the crowd who could now given the birds eye view see why as Jiro ran full pelt in the direction he had originally thrown the sword from while at the same time pulling the long chain will all his charka reinforced strength using the moment he had to add extra weight. The run hadn’t been intended to hurt the Nin but rather distract him from his true purpose to bring the chain full circle leaving him in the middle of a loop, a loop which Jiro was no pulling tight with all his strength. The blue haired Genin was left in a difficult predicament and an almost certainly deadly one if didn’t react very fast

Name: Blade Trap
Rank: C
Type: Taijutsu (well Kenjutsu to be specfic)
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Description: This is often used in conjunction with Blade Whip. The principle is that with careful flicks of the wrest the blade can be left lying on the ground with its rope/chain in a loop around a specific area. If possible it should be well hidden or have a genjutsu place upon it. Then its a matter of luring your opponent into the area and pulling hard. The victim should end up tightly bound only for a moment later to have the Disciples blade slice through them
