The Shortest Straw -Private-

Walking casually through Moon country something about the day was strangely ominous, he couldn't put his finger on it but the dark sky, the close tree line to the path and the random gusts of wind that blew leaves down the path gave him a feeling on edge. The afternoon sun was blocked out from the heavy dark clouds that hung over the landscape like a giant black sheet. He felt the presence of people or animals around him. He shrugged the feeling of being followed off.

The cobblestone path that was about 5 feet wide was silent other then Drizzt, it was windy and curved, not allowing to see a good distance behind you or the path in front. He continued down the path though, he knew the village wasn't far. It wasn't Waterfall village but a smaller village inside the country. Finally the treeline broke and opened up to a large wooden palisade. A large wooden gate was up in front of him. Knocking on it he waited for a response.

A slider opened and glanced at him then opened the gate for him. "Have a nice stay." he muttered closing the gate. The ground was all dirt, not much grass and most of the tree's were barren, a rather bleak setting in the fall, which was usual. He continued through the rural village. There were only a few buildings and most of them were very far apart, 20 meters or more. Drizzt put a hand on his swords, the streets were too quiet

Somethings wrong... He thought quietly.

Near had been lying in wait for several hours now, anxiously awaiting the arrival of a ninja that he had to kill. It was unfortunate, really, but it seemed that Near remembered getting drunk one night, and telling this ninja things that he had not meant to say. Well. Everyone makes mistakes, though it was time to tie up this loose end. Near sighed, this might be even easier than he had thought.

Near had the entire village secretely evacuated by posing as a high ranking official, claiming that there was a threat within that had to be dealt with. Near then swiftly killed all those who proceded to exit, and he destroyed their bodies. Near laced every surface of the town with invisible exploding tags, most of them on the insides of walls. Near would make a single handseal, and the entire village would blow up, instantly. Near had 2 shadow clones of his portray the guards, and they performed such seemlessly, Near could feel the variance in one's chakra as they must have spoke. Near then could feel the chakra presence of the one he had to kill. Near himself was deep underground, safe from any sort of explosion.

When Near felt her presence almost directly in the middle of the town, Near made a handseal from beneath the earth, and suddenly, and violently, the entire town exploded in an eruption of flames, leaving behind a charred mess and burning buildings. Wether or not the ninja survived, Near did not know. but the chances were slim, of that he was sure.

Drizzt heard something, the sound of an exploding note hissing inside a building, before he could think he shouted "CRIMSON TURBULENCE!" Thanks to his improved hearing there was a way to warn himself of the oncoming attack. His blades spun above his head rapidly, barely holding onto the chakra that protected him. The fierce winds blasting any debris away from him, after a second or two however, all of it stopped, along with Drizzt's Jutsu. "Come ahead if you will, but know that the next time you go down,you will not get back up." Drizzt said, putting one blade away, keeping icingdeath out and holding a tomahawk in the hand that used to hold Twinkle. With Twinkle put away the night would be completely devoid of light other then the few piles of ashes left by the explosion. Drizzt kept his eyes opened wide, there would be little to no way for any opponent to see where they were in the dark of night such as this. He smiled, looking around the area, Drizzt had the clear advantage, it would take a ninja of good skill to defeat him. He stood ready, tomahawk in one hand, icingdeath in the other.

Near had waited a bit more. Appearing out of the ground provided the opponet a quick attack, were he to appear in the wrong location, and so he waited a bit before proceeding. He moved slowly up, listening and ensuring no movement above before proceeding forward. He did not want to bother having to fight fully an opponet, as it would require too much effort. An excess of effort on Near's part could lead a required amount of rest, and this was not acceptable for one such as himself. He was nearly ready to come out, when he heard a voice, "Come ahead if you will, but know that the next time you go down, you will not get back up".
The target had not been eliminated. This was unnacceptable. However, being Near, he had already assumed the target had a success chance. This was a preparation festival. He estimated the location of the voice accurately, and appeared out of the ground, quite a bit a ways. In visible site, nearly on the other side of town, however. Before he had come out of the ground, he performed neccesary preparations and set a seal below him. He hid the fact by jumping out of the ground, and landing one knee on the ground, then looked up slowly at the opponet. This seal was not visibly set, and it appeared as if he had simply used his knee to brace his fall. There was no possible way the opponet could realize what he had done without having been below the ground with him. Underneath his shirt, he had an Earth Trap Unseal Tag, so as not to disturb the setup. It was also in no way visible. Looking up at his opponet, he blinked emotionlessly. He stood, and got in a simple stance that would permit him reflex and avoidance.

Earth Trap Seal Technique

This seal is placed on an area of solid ground that is usually about as big as an acre. This seal makes this area a trap, and anyone without an Earth Trap Unseal Tag will fall into the pit created by this seal upon walking on the affected ground.

Drizzt blinked and gasped as the ground beneath him suddenly gave way. He smiled, knowing he had a long way to fall he disappeared in a puff of smoke, replacing himself with a simple rock. He smiled, standing on the edge of the Trap. Throwing the tomahawk into the pit near the center a hidden exploding note which was unlit and would not be lit until he was ready. He threw it at about 25 mph, and it had about 75 feet to travel. He cracked his neck, and drew a kunai, secretly attached to a string of about a dozen kunai, but it would be invisible to the naked eye in the dark. Drizzt smiled, holding the single kunai in his hand he held it up to his face and took careful aim, but didn't release it.

The kunai was attached to another kunai at every 10 meters of wire, which was wrapped up so when thrown it would form a circular shape which was 50 meters in area. He smiled, "Come Wizard, feel the sting of a drow's blade!" He said eyes opening wide, Drizzt would be a blip in the night, his voice echoing throughout the hole. There would be no way to determine his location without the help of a jutsu.

Near assumed the target, being capable of avoiding an explosion the size in which he released was able to avoid a simple ground collapsing. He was hoping to avoid large conflict however. He wasn't in the mood, rather, in any mood. He noticed he was replaced and smiled. The target was on the edge when he was replaced, thus he is next to the edge. Using a simple jutsu, he could easily move through the earth should this very instance had happened. He grabbed for the edge as he began to fall and used the technique to grasp the edge. A weapon was seen going to where have landed had he not now been inside the ground, where the target replaced him. However, the oppent was not aware of the distance the seal effected. As the target had placed himself directly in the center of the trap, by replacing himself with Near. He would have no way to jump accross a half acre and would be falling. Fortunately for near, he moved through the ground quickly enough to be above the acre. The opponet should have been surprised by the ground falling within such a large area. Near made handsigns and collapsed the hole on itself. Everything within the pit was crushed.

This technique was used in order to grasp and hide within the edge of the technique, then emerge at the top.

This technique was used to use the collapsed earth and earth around the seal to crush everything within it.

This technique causes the ground surronding the enemy to spiral inwards on itself, burying them alive or crushing them.


Events as occured:

Due to the replacement technique, Drizzt would have ended up in the center of the seal. Avoiding the seal's effect would have been impossible.

Near grasped the edge and moved within the earth.

Near emerged and used the collapse technique.

Drizzt's ability to react to the least expected situation after beleiving he was safe from the collapsing ground determines Drizzt's ability to escape the big bang, which is the collapsed area forcing in on itself. The occurance itself would have been brief. Closing with a huge force, likely providing a sucking force as well. Estimated time of jutsu to fully close: 3 seconds.

Hold on, let me edit cuz i thought your technique put Near on the edge of the thing, not the center.
