Summon: Slight Wasp and Knowing Wasp

I'm working on an entirely new contract, and these are the two E-ranks my Genin would have. Questions welcome.


Name: Slight Wasp

Nickname: ....... [the characters which indicate the sounds of a lesser wasp's name aren't on my keyboard]

Slight Wasps have the appearance of normal wasps-- if anything, they're slightly smaller than average. Their black-and-yellow design may seem obtrusive at first, but natural patterns of light and shadow allow them to blend effectively.

Personality: While intelligent, Slight Wasps are definitely at the bottom of the totem pole. They can communicate, and they have an incredible sense of self-preservation. They exercise in order to hide/run from anything bigger than themselves.

Age: Slight Wasps range in age from two months to two and a half years (some are younger and some are older, but they don't travel far from hom and aren't summoned).

History: Slight Wasps are an E-Ranked member of the band of Summoning Wasps. They are much more numerous than other kinds, with a naturally curious disposition. While each may have a unique history, they can all be summarized by one phrase: "Learn and Share."

Description: Slight Wasps can outrun shinobi, especially in forests-- they're smart, and they have a chakra network that can be tapped for incredible speed. Many shinobi who've seen them in action believe they can turn invisible.

Description: With careful control, a Slight Wasp can mimic many sounds using its wings. While the sounds are not audible at any great distance, most Slight Wasps can even produce the sound of speech in various human languages.




Name: Knowing Wasp

These wasps are tiny, delicate things without visible stingers. Two of them can fit onto the nail of the average thumb. If you look closely, you may see an odd organ on the underside of the thorax that resembles a spider's spinerettes. They're almost always nestled on the back of a shinobi, though, so you'll probably never get the chance.

Personality: Boushi is the Knowing Wasp assigned to Aritomo. Like most of his kind, he is extremely intelligent and assertive. Knowing Wasps that don't have a strong sense of self don't last long. He's trained to be observant; Boushi is one of the more intelligent of his kind and it shows.

Age: Knowing Wasps live almost as long as humans do, if not more. Boushi is thirty-five years old.

History: When Maeno first performs (past tense pending approval) the Wasp Summoning, Boushi arrives. The Knowing Wasp explains more completely the abilities available to Summoning Wasps. He also performs a link. Linking only hurts the first time a given wasp/summoner pair uses it.

Description: Knowing Wasps land on the back of their summoner's neck and extrude filaments up their spinal column. They serve as an extra set of perceptions; their utility to a shinobi increases as the two become accustomed to cooperation. The pain from the first Link is the establishment of connections; on subsequent summonings a Knowing Wasp can tap into its pre-existing "network."
