Name: Kazuki Shirubaken
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Village: Sunagakure
Rank: Jonin
Physical Appearance: While Kazuki is rather tall, standing about 6'4, he is rather lankey. He is very scrawny and some can mistake him as being malnourished or physically weak. Most often happens when he is admitted into the hospital by new nurses. He prefers wearing lose fitting clothing. Both being rather plain as they are usually a blank shirt and pants. His black hair is always uncempt and drooping over his face. His eyes are a dark blue and almost look to be glazed over.
He carries his sword on his back, wrapped with a fraction of the robe. The remainder of the robe is wrapped around his abdomen underneath his shirt as a security measure.
Personality: Always calm. Almost never shows extreme emotions but there are times when he is extremely distressed that those with keen eyes can catch on. He remains this way even in battle, calm and calculating. People are often turned away from him as his personality can be hard to like. His trust is also something he does not give out freely. He has very few who can truely call him a friend because of this. That however, does not translate into his communication skills as he is able to co-operate fairly easily with others, but is often restrained to missions only.
Element: Lightning, Wind
Weapon of Choice: Claymore: A Claymore shortened enough for use in one hand. One of the final two creations of Kazuki's father before his death. The blade is a weave of silver and steel giving it a distinct shine when held to the sunlight.
Robe of Omnipresence: Mayuri Shuribaken's greatest, and final work. The robe is in fact a fifty meter long, 0.3 meter wide cloth. It is wolven with fine threads of specially tempered steel that look, feel and act as a cloth of equivalent size made from wool. But as strong and sharp as a blade. When imbuned with chakra, the robe increases in its strength and can be moved to the will of the user. At one end is the emblem of the Shirubaken family.
Fighting Type: Weaponry, Ninjutsu
Background:Pre-Academy Arc:
Born in the rural village of Kiriesaki, nestled at the foot of the mountains. Kazuki was the only son of the village blacksmith and his wife who was a medical nin in the Leaf Village. She was often away on business and his father spent the majority of his time in the shop making tools for the local famers. He also was a well known producer of high grade weapons that surpassed most equipment given out in the Villages for ninja.
Due to his parents always being away, Kazuki was raised for the most part by his Grandfather. A former Jonin for the Leaf who was forced to retire when he lost his leg during a mission. Seeing as he was a former instructor though, from the day Kazuki learned to walk, his grandfather had been teaching chakra control and training his body. While other children were playing in the fields, he was learning how to hide his presence and approach undetected.
His life was like that until he reached the age of seven. Constant training and waiting for the occasional visit from his mother while his father would work late into the night and wake early in the morning. However, two months after his seventh birthday, everything changed for him.
That year they had endured an extremely dreadful rainy season and the fields were already partially flooded while the river was well in the danger zone. This wasn't a new occurance for the villagers as times like this came around every three to five years or so. What they didn't realize was the fact there had been a small landslide overtop the dam, heavily damaging it until it could no longer hold back the waters.
The dam collapsed around noon the day after the rains stopped, sending down a massive landslide that engulfed the village. Kazuki was trapped inside his home with his grandfather. They were lucky enough to have one room intact, even though the building was completely buried under rubble. Kazuki's grandfather acted oddly, he was breathing heavily and kept telling Kazuki to stay calm and look for a way out.
Kazuki did notice his grandfather's sudden weiryness but did as he was told, he searched the room but could find no exit so he began digging through some of the debris, hoping he could break through to the surface. His grandfather meanwhile, sat in a dark corner of the room telling Kazuki to stay calm and keep digging. Which he did. He dug for an entire day before he finally broke through to the surface and sunlight shone into the room.
Kazuki immediately went back to help his grandfather to escape when he was pushed away. His grandfather just glared him down and told Kazuki that the exit was only large enough for him to slip through. That he should go to the nearest town and get help as the village was quite isolated and barely had travellers come through. Most being the odd ninja looking for weapons.
Reluctantly, Kazuki leaves his grandfather and looks upon his ruined home. What had used to be lively fields now lay quiet, buried under meters of mud and stone. He made his way through the debris and undertook the two day hike down to the nearest village for help. He arrived on the morning of the second day, not having stopped for sleep and nearly collapsed at the town gates. He made his way to the village head's office where he was able to rally a search party to leave immediately.
Once they arrived at the village, moral was low as they did not expect to find any survivours, but within a few hours they managed to pull out a few. They continued to dig over the next several days unearthing a majority of the village's population, including Kazuki's father. Kazuki however, ran immediately back to his home to tell his grandfather that help had arrived. But what he saw was his grandfather lying dead in the same corner he had been sitting in when Kazuki left. The extra light now flooding into the room revealed a large stain of dried blood. Further inspection had shown that he was impailed by a splintered piece of wood that had struck his back when the mudslide hit.
Kazuki's father did all he could to consol him over the loss, but was unsure what exactly to do as he had little skill as a father. The next week they held funeral rights for all who had perished and by then the Leaf Village had finally caught word and Kazuki's mother arrived two days later.
With the village destroyed along with the dam, everyone was forced to find new homes. Kazuki and his family moved to the Leaf Village as it was the most practical choice and his father's business could run smoother with a solid client base.
So they moved there and six months later his father had his business all set up and Kazuki began seeing more of his parents. However, he became distant and never tried to make friends. Continuing his training on his own at night and when his father was in the shop.
Academy Arc:
Several years passed and Kazuki planned on entering the academy to begin becoming a ninja like his grandfather had wanted. However, his father was strictly against it. He made weapons and weapons were made to kill. He didn't want his son weilding the same weapons he made to kill another. His mother though, had a more open mind and managed to convince his father onto allowing him to enter.
His academy days were short as he graduated quickly, already knowing many of the basics he breezed through the classes and became a genin. Before he met his teacher however, his father fell ill. And no matter how hard the staff at the hospital tried, they could not cure what ailed him. They could just identify it as a non-contagious virus that affected the heart. He had less than a month at most to live. His life could be prolonged if he was put under constant watch at the hospital but he decided that he would make the best of his last days.
He then spent the entire day with Kazuki, discussing what he planned to do as a ninja, any plans for his future and such. It was the longest period of time Kazuki had ever spent with his father. The very next morning, he barred himself up in the shop where he remained for three weeks. The sound of his hammer echoed long into the night and early in the morning. He finally came out on the day Kazuki was to meet his squad. His condition had severely worsened and he could no longer stand, but hte entire time he wore a smile on his face.
Genin Arc:
Kazuki went and met with his squad. Their teacher gave them a simple initiation test to assess their abilities. And to know where they specialize. His team consisted of himself, a male genin who was a proficient genjutsu user and a kunoichi who was extremely skilled in ninjutsu. He however, was told that while he was well balanced in many of the areas, he had nothing he accelled at and should try and find what suits him best.
With those words in mind, he headed home to find his father bedridden and his mother by his side. This would be the last he saw of his father alive. His mother was forced back to the hospital that evening and Kazuki said goodnight to his father.
That morning, he awoke to find two boxes by his bedside, along with a note. The final word s of his father saying he should contunie the path he had chosen and he was sorry he could not be around to watch him. Inside the box was a large claymore and a long scarf made of wolven steel. His father's final works. When Kazuki entered his father's room, he saw him lying in his bed. A smile on his face.
Starting that day, Kazuki carried his sword around with him always. He left the cloth hidden in his home, practising with it at night. Planning to use it as his secret weapon during the chunnin exams. His skill with a blade grew quickly and he was soon the frontline member of his squad. Protecting the other two while they preped their jutsu.
Chunnin Exams Arc:
In time, the chunnin exams came around and his squad was given the go ahead to participate. The written exam was a breeze and the group passed without any difficulties. Moving on to the second stage and the Forest of Death. There, they recieved a Heaven's scroll and took their place at the 25th gate. The exam started and the group immediately charged deep within the depths of the forest.
There, Kazuki inadvertantly took lead of the squad and began directing them through the woods. Using his ability to sense where the enemies were at all times, he was able to guide his team past the stronger groups and stealthily approach one weak group. They easily annilated the team and retrieved the Earth Scroll they carried. Excited over their victory, but not wanting to take too many risks, they immediately headed for the tower. And with Kazuki's guidance again, they made it to the tower without encountering any other teams. Upon arrival they noticed that several other teams had arrived beforehand. Simply looking at them they could tell that they would be the more serious competition.
They waited the remaining four days for the last of the groups to slowly trickle in and were given the date of the final exam. Kazuki did notice the whole time though, there was one ninja who stood out from the others, he had a particularily high bloodlust about him and was constantly glancing over at his group. A feeling in the pit of his stomach told him he did not want to meet him in combat.
So with that, the second exam came to a close and the genin were given a month off for recovery and ready themselves for the final exam. Kazuki began carrying around the robe with him. Using it as a sort of sheath for his blade. But when the opportunity arised, he would train with it. Taking care to ensure there were no prying eyes nearby to catch him and his secret weapon.
Third Exam:
The month passed quickly and the streets were crowded with spectators and vendors looking to make an easy buck. Kazuki entered the stadium and watched the opening ceremony, watching the list and carefully studying the list. The first thing that sprang out at him was the second round. If he were to win the match, he would likely face the genin that worried him most.
His first match was realitively simple as his opponent was a part of a weaker group who had barely passed the second exam. When the match ended, Kazuki was relieved that he had not needed to reveal the abilities of his robe because, as he had predicted, the genin had moved on and he would be facing him.
The rest of the matches passed and Kazuki entered the arena. His stomach cramped with nerves that did not transfer to his expression as he gazes into the darkness of the entrance as his opponent emerges onto the field. He had jet black hair that covered most of his face and fell to his shoulders. His attire consisted of a type of assassin's uniform. a dark blue, skin tight full body outfit with some light armour placed over vital areas.
As he approaches his spot, Kazuki could feel a strong aura emitting from him, completely unlike the opponent he faced before. This guy was on a different level and it would take quite a bit to take him out. The proctor begins the match and immediately, Kazuki draws his blade, the robe flying off and falling to the ground. Now was not the time to use it. He steadied his blade and charged forth.
He attacked without relying on his ability to sense his opponent as he was trying to make him reveal his techniques. Which, after the first round of slashes, worked. The genin leaped back and performed a handsign. Immediately, his hair uncovered his eyes which began to glow blood red and everything around Kazuki turned black. In every direction, darkness and there was absolute silence.
"Genjutsu" he thought to himself as he stood in place. Unable to discern his opponent's location. In reality, Kazuki had stopped moving and now stood in the middle of the arena motionless. Grinning his opponent creaped closer, drawing a kunai and staring intently at Kazuki's throat.
Inside the illusion, Kazuki begins focusing. Shutting down his five senses and using his ability only. A strong response appeared and he raised his sword arm. The genin stood shocked as his kunai was blocked and he was thrown back. Kazuki walking towards him, following him with closed eyes. The genjutsu was still in effect but it was not stopping him. The genin then thinking it was simply a fluke, charges again. Recieving a slash across the face from the tip of the blade.
The would was enough to break the illusion and Kazuki opens his eyes, staring at his opponent he stands up straight and readies himself. His oppenent attempts to charge, but finds his leg caught as the robe had wrapped around and was now holding him in place. He looks back to a grinning Kazuki as the robe springs from the ground and ties the genin. Kazuki charges over and after placing the blade to the genin's throat, is declaired the victor.
From there, Kazuki moved on to win the final match and graduated to Chunnin along with three other genin. One being his squad mate. With the conclusion of the tournament and his recent promotion, he leaves the arena and visits his father and grandfather's graves. Informing them of his recent success and how thankful he was to them.
